Promotion: Spritz for success
Martini Spritz sets the standard for a delicious and stylish drink that appeals to trendy wine consumers
Over the last three months consumers have been embracing the latest trendfrom Europe: the Spritz. Not just a drink, the Spritz is a way of life that has its roots in Italy, where it’s so popular that the expression ‘spritziamo’ (literally ‘let’s spritz’) has become short-hand for going out and socialising with friends over lunch, after work or at the weekend.
A winning serve
Iconic Italian vermouth Martini has been working with the on-trade to promote the Martini Spritz, due to a growing demand among trendy wine drinkers in their 30s looking for
delicious and stylish alternatives that are also lower in calories and alcohol.
The Martini Spritz ticks all those boxes. Made by mixing Martini Bianco or Martini Rosato with soda water (see box for recipe), it offers a stylish alternative to a glass of wine with 105 calories and 1 unit of alcohol (that’s fewer calories and half the units of a medium glass of white wine). What’s more the Martini Spritz is quick and easy to make – and offers great GP.
Spritzing up London
This summer Martini joined forces with 10 different London venues that embodied the spritziamo vibe: from laidback style bars such as Paradise by Way of Kensal Green, Cantaloupe and Imbibe Bar, to
trendy newcomers like Kopapa and Platform; venues that offer great food – Kettner’s and One Aldwych – or informal dining options such as Bedford & Strand, Café Luc and The Ebury.
The response was resoundingly positive. ‘We had no idea that the Martini Spritz could be such a simple, elegant and refreshing drink that would in turn, seethe bar benefit from its fantastic GP,’ says Shelley Martin-Light from Paradise by Way of Kensal Green. ‘We have not only put it on the menu here, but we also have three other Colombo group venues that will be listing the Martini Spritz as well.’
‘The Martini Spritz is ideal for light refreshment all throughout the day,’ adds Luis Simoes, bar manager at One Aldwych. ‘Martiniis great in every sense as it’s balanced, light and has wonderful palate notes.’
With such glowing testimonials for one easy drink, perhaps it’s time you started adding some spritz to your sales ahead of Christmas. Visit pourfection.com and click Martini to find out
