Have you been a sommelier in the on-trade for less than five years? Do you profess a passion for champagne? Would you swear your life on your impeccable pairing abilities?Then you could have what it takes to be one of the Gosset Matchmakers.
Simply fill out the application form – successful applicants will be invited to an exclusive tasting event at Le Cordon Bleu London on 12 June, hosted by Xavier Rousset MS and Bertrand Verduzier from Champagne Gosset. There, 2016 winners Elisa Marchini and Riccardo Pozzobon and our 2017 winners Raphael Laurent and Ambra Papa will present their winning pairings and talk about their experiences in the competition.
So what does the competition entail? After the launch, you will consult with a chef of your choice from your venue, collaborating to create the perfect dish to match with one of the current releases sampled at the tasting event. (Worried you’ll need to remind your palate of the wines? Don’t worry – there will also be an opportunity to come and re-taste the champagnes at Imbibe Live, 2-3 July at Olympia London.)
Five teams will be chosen to recreate their dish in Le Cordon Bleu’s London kitchens on 4 September at an event hosted by Gosset and Louis Latour Agencies. Competitors will be mentored and judged by some of the country’s top sommeliers, and the chef-sommelier pair that has made the best match will win.
The coveted prize is an exclusive behind-the-scenes trip to Gosset in Champagne, an incredible opportunity for any sommelier or chef (yes, that means you!).
