Whisky aficionados, take note: spirits wholesaler Speciality Drinks is back with its second annual Whisky Cocktail Classic competition, now accepting entries until Sunday 15 July.
This year participants are challenged to craft a cocktail around the theme of peat – but they certainly aren’t limited to using Islay in their creations. The competition welcomes entries with Scotch, Irish, American, Japanese and more.
After the 15 July deadline, a panel of judges will shortlist 10 paper entries for the semi-final in London in August. The top four from the semi-final round will advance to the final, held on 1 October at The Whisky Show trade day in London.
The lucky winner will receive an all-inclusive trip to Islay to learn even more about the intricacies of whisky and its smoky mistress, peat.
Last year’s champion, Rhys Wilson of Happiness Forgets, took home the crown under the theme of Scotch. Who will win the glory this year? It could be you!
To enter, submit your cocktail creation to firstname.lastname@example.org by 15 July, including a photo and a full recipe.
