Wine Australia is inviting the UK trade to explore the history and evolution of Australian wine at its One Day Wine School, a free educational session and tasting in London, Edinburgh and Bristol.
Tailored for industry professionals, the One Day Wine School provides a comprehensive overview of Australia’s history, climate, terroir, viticulture and winemaking whilst showcasing a range of evolving wine styles and what’s coming out of Australia today.
The sessions will be presented by some of the most respected wine writers, judges and presenters in the trade: Natasha Hughes MW, Alistair Cooper MW, Sarah Ahmed, Tom Cannavan and Ronan Sayburn MS.
Over the day guests will taste 32 wines, divided into themed flights which demonstrate the breadth and depth of contemporary Australian wine. Wines featured include great classics from Tyrrell’s Wines and Brokenwood Wines as well as artisans such as Mac Forbes and Vinteloper. The line-up includes less familiar styles: a skin contact natural wine from Alpha Box & Dice, a sparkling Shiraz from Dowie Doole and a Sagrantino from Oliver’s Taranga.
The Bristol leg of the Wine School will take place on 8 May at Hotel du Vin, Narrow Lewins Mead, BS1 2NU. Presenters will be Natasha Hughes MW and Alistair Cooper MW.
