Tales of triumph

Last year's Spirited Awards at Tales of The Cocktail saw London win big, so hopes were high for 2013. At the ceremony this weekend, however, things didn't pan out quite as well, and although a number of UK on-trade personalities received individual awards, our bars were left out in the cold.

Congratulations must be offered to the excellent Sean Muldoon and Jack McGarry, whose Manhattan bar, The Dead Rabbit scooped World's Best Cocktail Menu and World's Best New Cocktail Bar, as well as the International Bartender of the Year award going home with McGarry.

Other folk from our shores who walked away with gongs included Tony Conigliaro who won Best New Book for  Drinks, gaz regan was awarded Best Cocktail Writing (Author) and The Maestro, Salvatore Calabrese was honoured with The Helen David Lifetime Achievement Award.

Huge congratulations to the nominees and winners, and all at Imbibe wish those suffering from post-Tales hangovers a speedy recovery.
