Award-winning Siren Craft Brew crowdfunds to introduce canned beers

Siren Craft Brew Co, the producer of CAMRA’s Supreme Champion Beer of Britain 2018, has launched a crowdfunding campaign with the goal of packaging its beers in cans.

Siren founder Darron Anley

The brewer currently bottles its six flagship beers and various seasonal releases, and also offers them in casks and kegs in pubs, bars and restaurants worldwide, as well as in its taproom in Wokingham.

‘We haven’t put our beer in cans at this point because we couldn’t guarantee it would be as good as our bottles,’ explained Darron Anley, Siren’s founder. ‘Now, with the right equipment, we can.’

Siren has expanded rapidly since its launch in 2013. It now exports to 80 countries, and has seen a 30% growth in distribution to the UK on-trade in 2018.

To keep up with demand, the brewer plans on using the funds to increase its capacity with six 250hl outdoor tanks in addition to establishing its canned range. If Siren manages to surpass its £750,000 target, it will put the money towards improvements in processes, equipment and quality control – and should the team raise £1.5m, Anley hopes to open  two more taprooms in city-centre locations.

‘Crowdfunding is something we’ve been asked a lot about over the years. All being well, this round will allow us to keep growing sustainably,’ Anley said.

Investors in Siren’s Crowdcube campaign will receive equity in the company. Crowdfunding closes 23 November.
