We’re trying not to honk with excitement at the news that Goose Island Beer Co will open its first UK brewpub in London later this summer and is on the search for its first UK brewmaster.

Following openings in the USA, China, Mexico, Korea and Brazil, the latest brewpub will offer all things Goose-Island, from barrel-aged stouts and dry-hopped IPAs, sours and lagers, as well as innovative small-batch brews crafted on site.

We’ve been on an incredible journey here in the UK and are looking forward to this next chapter,’ said Ken Stout, president of Goose Island Beer Co. ‘We’re so flattered and excited about the reception that Goose Island beer has enjoyed in London and we want to continue to share and contribute to the incomparable beer culture in the UK.’

One of the many roles of the brewmaster

The excitement doesn’t stop there, as Goose Island is naturally looking for someone to head up the brewpub and is embarking on the search for its first ever brewmaster in the UK, who’ll be responsible for the day-to-day running of the new brewery.

The job will entail lots of drinking and tasting Goose Island, along with creating new beer recipes. Other perks include a month-long trip to the Goose Island hometown of Chicago to meet and work alongside the brewery team and a monthly beer allowance – a Goose Island cooler box topped up monthly.

‘The new Goose Island Brewpub will give beer lovers a chance to enjoy our established range of beers, as well as small-batch specialties brewed on site by our very first UK brewmaster,’ continued Stout.
