Reckon you’ve got the best beer and cider team in the country? Go on. Prove it! Following a rip-roaring debut in 2017, Tapsters is back, offering you and your colleagues the chance to win an all-expenses paid trip to Cork in Ireland and £500 spending money – plus major bragging rights.
The competition will see teams compete on the centre stage at Imbibe Live in a number of practical rounds, with challenges such as food pairing, blind tasting and the notorious cider pour, as well as a quick-fire University Challenge-style quiz. The winners will be decided by the audience and an expert panel, led by award-winning beer writer Pete Brown.
‘We want to find the people who are passionate about beer, crazy about cider, and have the skill to inspire guests with their fervour,’ said event MC and beer sommelier Annabel Smith.
‘We thoroughly enjoyed the experience,’ says Sam Wheatley, captain of last year’s winning team from the Pivovar Group. ‘All stages were challenging for different reasons, but overall it was an excellent test of our collective industry knowledge.’
Semi-finalists will head to The Beer & Cider Academy in London for a day’s high-level training, followed by a series of tasks, which will see two teams selected for the final.
‘The teams can learn an incredible amount from our beer and cider trainers and ambassadors to take back to their venues. Last year we saw beer houses lapping up cider knowledge and vice versa,’ said Imbibe Live’s beer ambassador Mitch Adams of Borough Wines & Beers.
