Innis & Gunn launch non-alcoholic beer

Drinks: Beers, Drinks
Location: Scotland

Following on from a newsworthy 2016, Scottish brewer Innis & Gunn has decided to go down a different, drier route, launching its first ‘detoxing’ alcohol free beer.

Innis & GunnThe beer, aptly named Innis & None, is a 0.0% pale ale containing vitamin C and ginseng, hoping to boost the immune system and offer a much needed January pick me up. The beer also boasts guarana, which is known to help with weight loss and athletic performance – in a beer, who’d of thought?

Brewed using hops including Columbus, Tomahawk, Zeus, Magnum, Hercules and Apollo, the beer is described by the brewery as a zesty pale ale with big hop bitterness, but without the alcohol.

‘The versatility of beer excites me as a brewer. Great beer does not necessarily have to contain alcohol,’ said founder and master brewer Dougal Gunn Sharp. ‘We approached brewing Innis & None, as we do with any of our beers, using quality ingredients to produce a bold flavoursome taste.

‘Taking the alcohol content down to zero is part of our belief that beer is for everyone, even those who don’t or can’t consume alcohol. I believe this pale ale stands up to the best of them. With the added vitamin C and ginseng, you’re now also getting a boost to the immune system for the New Year.’

Innis & None is available from today from the brewery’s online shop and at Innis & Gunn’s The Beer Kitchen in Edinburgh, Dundee and St Andrews.
