Vertical Drinks has secured a small batch of US craft brew Sierra Nevada’s limited-release Hoptimum IPA.
The beer uses five types of hops and four varieties of malt to produce a high-strength beer (at 10.4% abv) with layered hop notes of grapefruit zest, rose, lilac, cedar and tropical fruit.
‘Initial feedback has been excellent,’ said Vertical managing director Steve Holt. ‘It is not a beer for everyone, but for those who enjoy intensely-flavoured IPA Hoptium certainly delivers.’
Bar trade stockists include North Bar in Leeds, Port Street Beer House in Manchester and London’s Euston Tap, with wholesaler Utobeer stocking it in the English capital.
Vertical also said it was seeing dramatic distribution gains for its Veltins German pilsner.
The lager is now on draught in 30 All Bar Ones and nine Browns Brasseries, including the flagship venue in London’s Covent Garden.
Oakham Ales, the East Midlands real ale brewery, has become the fourth regional brewer to sign up to distribute Veltins on draught to free-trade customers.
Holt said: ‘Veltins has been recognised by both the trade and consumers, proving an authentic imported beer brand can establish a position in a highly competitive market.’Vertical Drinks, 0113 345 8835
