Pubs pouring proper pints of Guinness will now be able to show off their credentials, with today’s launch of a new accreditation programme for the on-trade.
Master brewer Fergal Murray visited The George in London, one of the first to receive their plaque and POS material. To qualify, pubs are visited by representatives from brand owner Diageo, who ensure that pints are being poured correctly, and that various quality standards are being met.
‘This is about making sure that pubs are keeping to a standard, asking them to step it up, and about rewarding them too,’ explained Murray.
The George also received their new Guinness founts today. This is the first time that the brand is rolling out a single fount for all of its accounts globally.
About 3,000 pubs will be accredited in the next few months.
