Together at last

Drinks: Beers
Location: England, Europe

Music and beer – if it wasn’t a perfect combination, we’d know by now, given the thorough testing this match has undergone in its time.

Signature Brew has set out to formalise this relationship, though. Teaming up with a musician, they conduct a tasting, and then work with a UK craft brewer to create (as the name suggests…) a signature brew.

This has been going on for about six months, and the team has just launched their second beer – the first was created with indie-rock band The Rifles and Titanic Brewery. This latest (a 4.5% abv amber ale) bears the name of The Hold Steady’s front man, Craig Finn. The beer is entitled Clear Heart, a reference to Finn’s first solo album, released in January this year, called Clear Heart Full Eyes.

Here’s the tasting session with Finn:

Contact Signature Brew for stockist information. It’s also available online, or from The Signature Brew Pub (which is actually The Marie LLoyd, 24 Chart Street, N1 6DD).
