Eight months after taking top spot in Imbibe’s IPA Challenge, North Brewing Co’s Transmission is hitting the taps in over 100 new venues. It rounds off a good March for the beer, which also picked up Champion Keg award at SIBA’s Independant Beer Awards.

Leading pub group Mitchells & Butlers sponsored the prize – a one-off listing with its Castle pubs, including such icons as The White Horse on Parsons Green, The Clifton in Bristol, The Adelphi in Leeds, and The Shipping Forecast in Liverpool. Transmission is due to go on sale the week around Easter.

‘It’s great to be able to bring Transmission into the line-up,’ said David Spoerry, The White Horse on Parsons Green. ‘We’ve been fans of North Brewing for years at The White Horse, but to welcome such a high quality and, importantly, popular craft product into 100+ sites gives our guests a whole new level of access to top, top beer.’

North Brewing Co’s head brewer, Seb Brink, said Transmission ‘has evolved a bit since its first appearance [a few years ago], but the core balance and flavour has stayed the same. We are trying to find the sweet spot between danky and pine-y ‘C’ hops and the newer fruitier varieties.’

Meanwhile, keep an eye out for news of this year’s finalists. The first round of The Lager Challenge took place in Liverpool on 13 March in association with SIBA, and once again, M&B will sponsor the prize.

With almost double the entry rate, expect a lively final in the Beer & Cider Hub at Imbibe Live, 2 July.
