As predicted by Imbibe earlier this month, Matthew Clark has confirmed the expansion of its Boutique Beers and premium Cider House ranges.
Thirty ciders from across the globe will make up the Cider House Collection and its Boutique Beers offering will swell to a whopping 200 products.
The UK’s largest drinks distributor hopes to tap into the 2.2% increase in cider volumes over the last 12 months and sees its 30 new ciders fitting perfectly in the premium segment, which makes up a healthy 30% of the market.
St Louis Dry Hopped and Zeffer are two of the ‘hopped’ variants which are said to bridge the gap between craft beer and cider, and new flavoured variants include Waddlegoose Three Berry and Maeloc Strawberry and Blackberry.
The Boutique Beers range has also expanded, featuring 102 recent additions. Newport brewers Tiny Rebel will have eight products in the new and improved Matthew Clark range.
‘As the beer and cider category continues to go from strength to strength, consumers are increasingly expecting a wide range of different beer and cider styles, and interest in discovering new styles is on the rise,’ Justin Wylde, category manager for beer, cider and soft drinks, said in a statement.
‘Responding to the change in consumer drinking habits, we’ve diversified our portfolio to help customers take advantage of this trend.’
