Three of Liverpool’s drinks industry figures are launching Spirits Festival, an event celebrating everything that’s distilled, in March.
The trio – Paul Murphy of the Whisky Business drinks shop, Black Lodge beer bar founder Paul Seiffert and Tom Mills, who founded independent bottler Malt of the Earth Whisky Co – are planning an event full of masterclasses, cocktail workshops and over 100 spirits to sample.
‘We’ve decided to hold the festival to help attendees have some fun with spirits,’ says Murphy. ‘We didn’t want to focus on one particular genre of spirits so we could appeal to everyone.
‘I love whisky but my wife doesn’t, so she wouldn’t come with me to a whisky festival. So we all thought, why not make it open so everyone can enjoy it?’
‘There’s currently a big renaissance in creative spirit production,’ adds Mills. ‘This is an exciting opportunity to taste some of the most interesting modern spirits and meet their makers – we’re lucky to be bringing them all together for this special event.’
Brands that have already signed up include Appleton Estate, Macallan, Del Maguey, Auchentoshan and Spirit of Hven, amongst many others.
The event will take place at Constellations in Liverpool’s Baltic Triangle on 10 and 11 March, with tickets priced from £22.
