BrewDog has announced that it is extending its spirits range Lonewolf beyond gin and vodka to encompass whisky and rum.

To close in on these markets, the Scottish brewer has appointed David Gates, formerly of Diageo, as managing director of LoneWolf.

‘Gates’ proven success in building an established spirits division makes him a force to be reckoned with in the industry. I’m thrilled to have him on board,’ commented BrewDog co-founder James Watt.

Gates brings 27 years of experience in the industry to BrewDog, and expanding the company’s core spirits portfolio over the next six months will be at the forefront of his agenda.

‘What BrewDog has done for the beer industry is nothing short of awe-inspiring,’ said Gates. ‘You can’t help but be impressed with the energy, vibrancy and unapologetic attitude they’ve injected into the category. It’s that same creative flair and obsession for quality that I hope to bring to the spirits portfolio.’
