Showing the generosity of the hospitality industry, The Horse Shoe Inn in Astbury, Cheshire has raised £10,000 for East Cheshire Hospice.

Licensees of the Robinsons pub for twelve years Mary and Charles Kennerley organised the event, a two-hour auction that took place on site at the old Coaching Inn.

‘We held an auction one evening where we expected to raise a few hundred pounds for the hospice, and we couldn’t believe how well it turned out,’ said Mary Kennerley.

‘Locals donated their old belongings which had been in their attics for years. All of our regular customers got involved, it just shows how a community can come together to offer genuine support, especially for such a worthy cause.’

‘We were absolutely overwhelmed by the donation. It made a massive impact on the hospice, ensuring that we can continue to provide the care and support to those who need it,’ said Lisa Ball, community fundraiser for East Cheshire Hospice. ‘We would like to say a massive thank you to all those who participated in the auction and to the licensees of the Horse Shoe who organised the event.’
