With Personality of the Year 2018 nominations now open and a stellar line-up of judges starting to assemble, Imbibe is delighted to add four more names to that list – and they know a thing or two about the competition.
George Bergier, Ago Perrone, Adam Byatt and Roy Ellis all scooped Personality of the Year awards in 2017, and this time they’re coming back to take on the unenviable task of picking out the shining stars from all of our wonderful nominees.
The competition, now in its eighth year, calls on you, the beloved on-trade, to help create the shortlist of special people shaking up the industry. These talented, passionate and hard-working people are the backbone of the on-trade, and Imbibe‘s Personality of the Year awards were created to recognise them.
In 2017’s contest, the Connaught Bar’s Ago Perrone took the crown for Bar Personality of the Year. The judges praising Perrone’s ‘eye for detail, unwavering perfectionism and sense of fun’. Michelin-starred chef Adam Byatt of Trinity, London, won Restaurant Personality of the Year for his tireless efforts in inspiring the next generation.
Pub Personality of the Year went to the enterprising Roy Ellis of Albert’s Schloss in Manchester and the ‘tireless champion of wine and patient and committed trainer of sommeliers’, George Bergier of Victorian Chop House Co, Manchester, took home the accolade of Industry Legend.
They will join the judges already confirmed for 2018; previous winners the Northcote’s Craig Bancroft, Gin Journey’s Leon Dalloway, Beer Belle Annabel Smith and Mixology Group’s Myles Cunliffe.
