Portobello Road Gin, the brainchild of Leelex’s Ged Feltham, Paul Lane and Jake Burger, has announced it will open a multi-million pound distillery on London’s Portobello Road later this year.

Simply called The Distillery, it will house a gin museum, blending rooms, a Spanish-style bar and restaurant called Gintonic, a gin bar, a shop, guest rooms and, naturally, a distillery. It will also become the new home of The Ginstitute, currently based at the Portobello Star, an experiential tour that allows visitors to learn about gin, taste botanicals and create their own gin.

It’s set to open towards the end of this year, although no precise date has been set.

‘We’re thrilled to announce the arrival of The Distillery on Portobello Road,’ said co-founder Ged Feltham (pictured right). ‘Our roots have played an important factor in the success of the brand and it’s incredibly exciting to be able to grow and continue producing in Notting Hill. The Distillery will prove to be a mecca for all fans of the drink and will, we believe, become the finest address in gin.’

Portobello Road Gin also said the Director’s Cut gin that was initially released last August will become an annual project, with the second to be out around November.

The Portobello Star will continue trading as is, at 171 Portobello Road.
