Now in its fourth year, the Wines of Germany Top 50 competition is back – a journey around Germany in 50 wines presenting you with some of the best examples from some of the world’s best wine growing regions. Imbibe can exclusively reveal the final winning wines below.

In March a top panel from the wine trade, including Roger Jones of The Harrow at Little Bedwyn, Christina Schneider of Som Saa, wine educator Jane Parkinson, Beth Willard of Direct Wines and James Comyn of Howard Ripley gathered at The Sampler in Kensington to whittle the pack down to the best wines of this year.

‘We have really diverse and high-quality line-up this year, with some fantastic modern labels and really interesting new producers,’ said Nicky Forrest, managing director of Wines of Germany UK. ‘This year, we’re focusing on both wines imported to the UK and Spätburgunder seeking UK representation, with the aim of increasing the profile of Spätburgunder in the UK market.

‘The tasting demonstrated just how diverse and exciting German wine is at the moment, and we’re very excited to unveil the Wines of Germany Top 50 to the UK wine trade at our trade tasting G String on 9 May, and Imbibe Live in July.’

Read more about the Wines of Germany Top 50, including Jones’ and Schneider’s thoughts, in the May/June issue of Imbibe.

For a chance to taste the full range, go to the G String tasting on 9 May, or come along to Imbibe Live on 3 and 4 July. [Add links to both events in this sentence]
