Five Rivers rum launches in the UK

Location: India

Ahhh rum, The Caribbean, Cuba, Panama and… India? That’s right, The Sanghera Rum Company’s Five Rivers rum is launching in the UK on-trade.

Said to be the UK’s first flavoured white rum using premium Punjabi sugarcane, the recipe has been produced by the Sanghera family over 150 years, harking back to its origins in Punjab.

Distilled and then infused with flavours of orange and green grape, the rum is designed to be sipped neat, but would make the perfect addition to a Daiquiri.

The company’s roots in the five rivers of Punjab inspired the rum’s name, with this spirit having been distilled by five generations of the Sanghera family, using five key ingredients.

‘I’m honoured to bring my ancestors’ recipe to the market. Back home in India people love rum, so it’s good to introduce an Indian-inspired recipe to the mix,’ said founder of the Sanghera Rum Company, Taj Sanghera. ‘The rum enjoyed back home has a distinctive style. I’m really excited to be able to make it available in the UK.’

If you fancy having a taste, Five Rivers will be at stand A97 at Imbibe Live in London on 3 and 4 July.
