Funkin puts the UK’s top cocktails on tap

Location: England

Mojito on draught is now a thing, with the introduction of Funkin’s new Premium Batched Draught Cocktails.

The fruit purée brand is launching the system next week, with a Pornstar Martini, Piña Colada and a Pink Grapefruit Gin Collins joining the Mojito in the initial line up, with a fifth already planned for later this year. With the Mojito and Pornstar ranking in first and second place in cocktail rankings in the UK, gin’s ongoing success, and the timeless appeal of the Piña Colada, the range covers a lot of bases.

The system uses 20-litre KeyKegs (each containing 133 serves), meaning it can take advantage of existing infrastructure in bars. The cocktails they contain are 10% abv, and have a shelf life of nine months before they’re opened, and 28 days after.

‘This innovation is a smart solution for operators looking to capitalise on the cocktail opportunity,’ Funkin’s managing director Andrew King commented.

Aiste Valiukaite, Funkin’s Innovation Champion, added: ‘The draught cocktail concept is one that allows bartenders to serve quality cocktails in a flash, giving them time to engage with the customer and enhance their overall experience.’

Sure, if you’re the kind of venue that puts in a few hours of prep every day making in-house ingredients, this might not be for you, but operators of high-volume venues and events could find these to be a blessing, especially when yet another order for six Pornstar Martinis comes in on a busy shift. Benefits, Funkin points out, include consistent and balanced cocktails, poured easily and quickly, with a reduction in both waste and customer waiting times.

The rise of cocktails on draught looks set to continue, with CGA naming it the number one cocktail trend for 2018.
