After a flurry of openings over the past few months, the Inception Group is rounding out 2018 with the launch of Mrs Fogg’s Maritime Club and Distillery in London’s Broadgate Circle.
While the rest of the Mr Fogg’s cocktail empire is themed around Phileas Fogg, the adventurous main character in Jules Verne’s Around the World in 80 Days, this new venue is inspired by his wife Aouda and her nautical journeys.
Like the other Mr Fogg’s locations, the interiors of Mrs Fogg’s combine themes of travel and exploration in a distinctly Victorian setting. The ground level of the two-floor venue will house a large central bar with ample greenery and antiques, as well as a large outdoor terrace.
But what sets Mrs Fogg’s apart is its downstairs ‘engine room’, which contains a working gin distillery. The distillery will play host to regular masterclasses, and guests will be able to take home its gin.
The cocktail menu at Mrs Fogg’s aims to evoke the flavours of India, the homeland of the venue’s eponymous character. For instance, Ta-Ta’s Margarita puts a twist on the classic drink with turmeric-infused blanco tequila, Rinomato Americano Bianco, chilli-infused honey, lime, starfruit and grapefruit tonic; meanwhile, Mumbai Donkey combines cardamom-infused vodka, pear, parsley and ginger beer. The bar will also serve small plates inspired by Indian cuisine, such as Jackfruit Biryani, Keralan Fried Chicken and Sweet Potato Pani Puri.
With the opening of Mrs Fogg’s, the Inception Group’s Mr Fogg’s venue count is up to six. It joins the recently launched Mr Fogg’s House of Botanicals and Mr Fogg’s Society of Exploration, as well as Mr Fogg’s Residence, Tavern and Gin Parlour.
Mrs Fogg’s Maritime Club and Distillery opens its doors on 29 October.
