After opening Mr Fogg’s House of Botanicals earlier this summer, the concept-driven team at the Inception Group show no signs of slowing down. Its latest launch, another feather in the cap of Jules Verne’s adventurous fictional character, is dubbed Mr Fogg’s Society of Exploration.
Located in The Strand near Charing Cross station, the cocktail bar centres on the theme of travel, evident in its décor. The entrance features a massive rotating globe, while the downstairs is decorated with an array of antique and modern-day maps.
The venue also houses a life-sized model of a Victorian-style Orient Express train carriage with banquette seating. The main bar is lined with wood panelling and bookshelves with travel books and encyclopaedias.
The drinks list is fully committed to this globetrotting theme, as well. Taking the form of an explorer’s journal, the menu is divided into nine sections, each representing a different location: Everest contains cocktails like Cresting the Summit, with aged Metaxa, spiced butter-infused English breakfast tea and yoghurt powder; while the Great Barrier Reef boasts drinks such as The Lagoon Reef, with gin, mint, chestnut and coconut water.
The new bar is the fifth location in Inception Group’s immersive Around the World in 80 Days-themed range, joining Mr Fogg’s Residence, Tavern, Gin Parlour and House of Botanicals. A sixth venue in Broadgate Circle, Mrs Fogg’s, is expected to land later this year.
Mr Fogg’s Society of Exploration opens on 14 September.
