The competition you’ve all been waiting for is back. And this time it’s personal…Shakes & the City is returning for a third year, offering you the chance to prove your city’s cocktail credentials…
Think your burg is the best in the country for cocktails? Then prove it by grabbing a team of three and entering the competition. You’ll be in with a chance of winning £1,000 of highly spendable CASH!
As always, we’ll be pitting teams from each city against their rivals in three separate regional heats, before the finalists come to Imbibe Live for the mutha of all showdowns on centre stage.
Last year saw Bristol triumph over Manchester and Glasgow in the final at Imbibe Live. Will they be able to retain the crown this year, or will another city kick their butt?
This year, we’d like teams of three to create a drink for a famous face from their city. Team Manchester might choose Tony Wilson for instance, while Team Glasgow could go for The Big Yin (aka Billy Connolly). You get the picture… Each team will have seven minutes to make and present their drink to the judges. Simple.
The heats will take place in…
Manchester’s Science & Industry will host the Midlands and the North heat on 14 May
Edinburgh’s Panda & Sons will host the Scotland heat on 21 May
London’s Berry Bros & Rudd will host the southern heat on 22 May
The winning teams from each heat will travel to Imbibe Live to compete on centre stage and close the show on Tuesday 3 July.
A glittering £1,000 will be handed over to the victors.
This year, the competition is being sponsored by the wonderful peeps at Field, Morris & Verdin (FM&V), who will be providing stock for social drinks during the heats, so even if you’re not competing, feel free to come along and support your home town.
FM&V are also happy to provide stock for your entry if you require (you don’t have to include an FM&V product, however), so mention that in your entry, and we can put you in touch. The products that are available are…
- Berry Bros & Rudd Cognac
- The Glenrothes Vintage Reserve
- The King’s Ginger
- Lustau Vermut Blanco
- Lustau Vermut Rojo
- Lustau Fino
- No 3 Gin
- Penny Blue VSOP
- Penny Blue XO
