Edinburgh’s Leon Back named Bacardi Legacy UK winner

Location: Netherlands, UK
Other: Competitions

After months of intense competition, regional heats and a whole lot of rum, the Bacardi Legacy UK winner was announced in Amsterdam last night.

Leon Back of Edinburgh’s Panda & Sons triumphed against 28 participants from 10 countries around Europe in the Northern European finals. Back’s The Queen Street cocktail – 50ml Bacardi Carta Blanca, 25ml fresh lemon juice, 20ml sugar syrup, 20ml Martini Ambrato, 2 dashes celery bitters and a spritz of Islay whisky – bagged his ticket to the Mexico final.

The renowned competition challenges bartenders from all over the world to create the next classic rum cocktail – using Bacardi, of course – challenging the likes of the Daiquiri or Mojito.

Back will compete in the Mexico world finals next spring, where he will fight to be crowned global winner of Bacardi Legacy 2018…
