Forager’s Gin announces royal wedding-inspired release

Location: Wales

It’s begun, the seemingly endless stream of royal wedding releases, with Meghan and Harry inspiration making its way into pretty much every industry.

One of these royal-inspired launches we are actually liking the sound of is Forager’s Clogau Reserve Gin, a collaboration between Snowdonia Distillery’s Forager’s Gin and one of Wales’ most respected gold jewellers Clogau.

To celebrate May’s royal nuptials, Forager’s Gin is launching its most exclusive single-cask to date, with only 440 bottles crafted.

The 2018 Forager’s Clogau Reserve is said to have tropical fruits and underlying citrus aromas, leading to a palate of soft fruits, lychee and apple, giving way to a drying juniper note and citrus with good level and balance of spice.

Showcasing the Welsh heritage of both brands, the gin is crafted using selected botanicals indigenous to the Welsh mountains and coastline, including juniper, sea buckthorn, apple, elderberry, gorse flower and heather.

‘Whilst every bottle of gin that leaves Forager’s is born of expert craftsmanship and passion, the Forager’s Clogau Reserve is an exceptionally rare, incredibly refined and perfectly fitting way to mark the royal wedding in spectacular fashion,’ said Forager’s head distiller Chris Marshall.

‘The exclusive expression will see the use of a single, hand-selected, oak cask from one of Northern Spain’s finest wineries, combined with pure Welsh mountain waters from the Clogau shale in Snowdonia, naturally filtered through seams of gold. It’s a true signature release for those who appreciate the finer things in gin.’

Of the 440 bottles crafted by the distillery, only 250 will be available to purchase from May at a pricey £130 a bottle. The bottle is pretty though, with a wedding-inspired white wax seal and delicate engravings. Just think of all the royal-wedding inspired cocktails you could create…
