Tel Aviv is in the middle of its first ever Cocktail Week, running from 28 May to 2 June, launched by Omer Gazit-Shalev, the Israeli winner of the Patrón Perfectionists Cocktail Competition.
Working in the same ways as London Cocktail Week, founded by Hannah Sharman Cox in 2010, Tel Aviv consumers are strapping on wristbands picked up from a Bombay Sapphire-hosted gin garden that allows them to enjoy innovative cocktails from a line-up of the city’s best bars.
Supporting the event, Patrón has organised a mini reunion of Patrón Perfectionists Cocktail Competition winners, as they continue to tour cities across the world.
‘We couldn’t be prouder to be involved in kicking-off the first ever Tel Aviv Cocktail Week,’ said Lee Applbaum, CMO of Patrón Spirits.
Gazit-Shalev is encouraging the bartenders in his city to experiment with different flavours and ingredients and to host unique and unconventional cocktail experiences for consumers in Tel Aviv.
Bars involved include Double Standard, Jasper Johns, Norman Library Bar, Spicehaus, La Otra, 223, Garnish, Aria and many others.
Germany’s Patrón Perfectionist winner and former fashion extraordinaire Dirk Güldner of Le Lion in Hamburg has partnered with Israeli fashion boutique Arketa. In addition, Güldner has partnered with celebrity chef Or Ginsberg for a dinner at the Flea Market.
Greg Almeida, the UK Patrón Perfectionist winner and head bartender of London’s Scarfes Bar in the Rosewood Hotel, is hosting a guest shift at the acclaimed Library Bar at the Norman Hotel, while Nathalie Durrieu, the French Patrón Perfectionist winner, brings the flair of Le Refuge bar in Paris to Jasper Johns in Tel Aviv to host a late-night brunch with tacos and Bloody Marias.
Finally tiki-inspired Patrón Tequila cocktails are being served up by Canadian mixologist and Patrón Perfectionist national winner, Makina Lynn in Aria and The Voodoo.
‘This is just one example of how the Patrón Perfectionists family sticks together and we are excited to welcome a new wave of entrants to the team with the launch of this year’s competition,’ said Matt Sykes, director of international marketing at Patrón Spirits.
