Showing once again that the UK does it best, London bars dominated the international categories at this year’s Tales of the Cocktail Spirited Awards last weekend.
Crowned in front of their peers and supporters at the Sheraton Hotel in New Orleans, Dandelyan, Swift and Trailer Happiness took home a total of five awards, presented to them by comedian and actor Michael Ian Black.
Unsurprisingly, it was Dandelyan that cleaned up, claiming the accolades of Best International Bar Team, Best International Hotel Bar and the most coveted of them all: World’s Best Cocktail Bar. They took home the signature Riedel Crystal Trophy as well as eternal bragging rights.
Everyone’s favourite rum cavern Trailer Happiness was honoured with Best International High Volume Cocktail Bar, while glossy newcomer Swift was crowned, you guessed it, Best New International Cocktail Bar.
‘Winning the Spirited award felt incredibly special. We’ve spent the last five years being inspired by previous winners to push the bar forward and this award is confirmation that we’re going in the right direction,’ Trailer Happiness’ Sly Augustin told Imbibe.
‘Trailer has made the final four for the last two years running and the disappointment of not winning has only made us hungrier and more focused. Going up against amazing bars like Oriole, Panda & Sons and The Baxter Inn this year made the award all the more valuable as they’re all places I’d be proud to own.
‘We will continue to try and make London proud and do our best to keep up with its amazing bar scene. If you like cocktails and you live in London you truly are spoilt for choice.’
