Martell refreshes cognac category with new VS liquid

Location: Cognac, France

It’s a rarity for something new to come out of Cognac, but Martell is doing just that, refreshing its original VS expression.

Specially crafted from a single distillation source, Martell VS Single Distillery is a richer and more intense expression to its predecessor, with its contemporary bottle design aimed at attracting a wider, younger audience.

Liquid gold in colour, there is plum, apricot and candied lemon on the nose, with a fruity, sweet and juicy mouthfeel.

The new expression is blended from eaux-de-vie derived from a single distillation source – one of the Cognac house’s selected partners in the region.

‘We are hugely excited to be refreshing our VS expression, which will invite new consumers to explore the category by providing an up-to-date cognac experience,’ said Magin Trewhella, head of marketing at Pernod Ricard UK.

‘The new liquid is exceptionally rich and fruity, and further highlights the finesse of the Martell distillation style.’
