A couple of months ago the internet was awash with praise for the latest Far-Eastern fad to arrive in London – bubble tea. The ‘bubbles’ are known as boba tapioca, chewy transluscent pearls filled with flavoured fruit juice and the craze has now crossed over to the world of cocktails.
The Grand Imperial London, a Cantonese restaurant based in the Grosvenor Hotel, Victoria will now be serving a specially created range of popping boba cocktails drawing on traditional Eastern ingredients, each priced at £9.50. The LingLing is named after the restaurant’s Dim Sum chef and includes sake, lychee purée, orgeat, lemon juice and egg white, garnished with the tapioca pearls.
Mark Wood, restaurant director for Grand Imperial London said of the new menu, ‘We are very excited to be introducing popping boba cocktails. These cocktails are not only a reflection of our Oriental heritage but give our guests an unforgettable summer drinking experience.’
