Drambuie’s sweet enough

Location: Europe, Scotland

Following a launch in the travel retail market, Drambuie has now unveiled its 15 Year Old Speyside Whisky Liqueur in the UK.

At one-third of the sweetness of standard Drambuie – ‘the minimum sugar content to pass as a liqueur’ according to global brand ambassador Jamie Stephenson – the premium addition to the range is intended as a sipping liqueur. It clocks in at 43% abv, and has a base of Speyside whiskies aged at least 15 years each.

With waxy ginger, clove and allspice on the nose, with some floral notes, the palate is far from cloying, with sweetness balancing some orange oil and eucalyptus flavours. ‘Like a Rusty Nail in a glass,’ summarised Stephenson.
