Galante, a new bar on London’s Sloane Avenue, is inspired by the cocktail scene in Buenos Aires in the 30s and 40s, and specifically by famous bartender Santiago Policastro, otherwise known as ‘Pichin’, or ‘El Barman Galante’.
The bar is the latest venture from the team behind Gaucho Restaurants. Bar director Lance Perkins and executive bartender Tato Giovanonni have created a list that includes drinks created by Pichin as far back as 1935.
Opening later this month, the bar will have an art-deco interior (complete with a Lalique-inspired glass bar), with decor and service aiming to recreate the glamour of that era. Previews begin on 16 January.
