The naked bartender

Location: Europe, Scotland

Maxxium UK has announced the start of their nationwide hunt for the perfect cocktail to showcase the virtues of their premium blend: The Naked Grouse.

100 bartenders from across the UK have been specially selected to compete in five regional heats: in Birmingham, Bristol, Edinburgh, London and Manchester. Their entries must only use four ingredients: The Naked Grouse, bitters, sugar and water, based on an old fashioned recipe (from 1806, no less) for the Old Fashioned. The ingredients can be used in any quantities and mixed in any way the competitor chooses, to create something new and exciting, much like the spirit itself.

The winner of each heat (along with second bartender from each area, selected through the volume of sales of The Naked Grouse over a two-month period) will attend a back-to-basics-themed boot-camp in Crieff, Scotland this July, with the winner announced on the banks of Loch Turret.
