A collaboration between Havana Club and The Bitter Truth could only have resulted in one thing: a capturing of the Essence of Cuba in little bottles.
These four liquids are produced in the same way as cocktail bitters, although without a bitter component – the company is suggesting that this is an entirely new drinks category. The range highlights four flavour components from Havana Club Añejo 7 Años, namely Aromatic Leaf, Honey, Island Fruit and Coffee. It’s suggested that bars serve a 40ml measure of the 7yo with three dashes of these flavourings, over ice.
While the range first appeared globally last year, this is its UK debut. Fifteen UK venues have been chosen to get the Essence of Cuba range first, with more to come in December. The brand has also called on Havana Club Grand Prix Winner 2014 Andy Loudon to produce a range of cocktail serves for each of the flavours.
Liam Murphy, senior brand manager for Pernod Ricard UK, commented: ‘To support the launch of Havana Club Essences of Cuba we entrusted our sales team to select bars across the UK, which were then treated to a brand immersion day by our brand ambassadors Meimi Sanchez and Mike Foster. Both introduced the outlets to the Essences of Cuba and advised those taking part how to promote them to customers within the on-trade.’
