Pop-up royalty, the Rebel Dining Society, has announced the advent of its newest venture, and it’s got us rather excited. Death by Burrito is set to open inside the revamped Catch bar on Kingsland Road in East London, and offer dishes such as duck breast tacos and lobster ceviche.
The drinks are designed for pairing with the dishes and sound no less exciting, which isn’t that surprising when you consider that Imbibe favourite Ryan Chetiyawardana (he of Worship Street Whistling Shop, 69 Colebrooke Row and Bramble fame)has devised the wholly tequila- (Jose Cuervo Tradicional, since you ask) based list. Cocktails will include the Pink Paloma, a blend of Jose Cuervo Tradicional, Aperol, raspberries and homemade vanilla-salted-grapefruit soda and the Turbo-Chelada: tequila, Mexican lager, cucumber, lime and thyme salt air.
Death by Burrito is set to open its doors at the beginning of September, and Rebel Dining Society’s Shay Ola said of the project: ‘We’re really excited to be launching Death by Burrito; and have been working hard to explore the relationship between food and cocktails. The complex flavour of Jose Cuervo Tradicional has given us infinite flavour pairing combinations to play with. We’ve always wanted to find a way to bring the Rebel Dining Society experience to a wider audience and think that with Death by Burrito we’ve cracked it.’
