Tequila is being showered with attention at Covent Garden’s new Mexican restaurant, Cantina Laredo, where a range of over 30 of the world’s very best 100% blue agave tequilas are being served in Margaritas (from the Cazadores Margarita to the Pomegranate Margarita), Mojitos (from classic to mango) and savoured alone. Premium examples being served at the venue include CaboWabo Uno, Don Julio Real and Herradura Selección Suprema.
Tequila ‘flights’ offer guests the opportunity to sample a selection from the menu, and the chance to bound through plata, reposado and añejo varieties.
The spirit will also be subjected to food pairing, with specialised Tequila dinners on the horizon, where guests will have the opportunity to swot up on their agave knowledge while tasting the spirit with a selection of dishes from the restaurant’s menu.
Food on offer includes ceviche and the hearty signature dish of Camaron Poblano Asada (a classic Mexican poblano pepper filled with sautéed tiger prawns, mushrooms, onions and cheese and wrapped with a grilled skirt steak on a bed of chimichurri sauce).
Wines are also on offer, with a list selected by Richard Bampfield MW.
