Absolut announces #13thClassic competition shortlist

Absolut has released the shortlist for its #13thclassic competition, which saw bartenders all over the UK send their ideas for a new classic cocktail with Absolut Vodka.

Tested and selected by brand ambassador Ricardo Dynan, the 10 finalist cocktails are:
Ryan Adair from The Cocktail Bar at the Merchant Hotel, Belfast – Pastiche
Charley Carrington from Rub Smokehouse & Bar, Nottingham – Having an Absolut Bubble
Dan Corum Fisher from Hawksmoor Air Street, London (ex Loves Company) – Because I Said So
Robert Drayton from The Billiard Bar, South Lodge Hotel, West Sussex – Daisy Buchanan
Les Fry from Voodoo Café, Darlington – The Moustachio
Alexander Lyche from The Voodoo Rooms, Edinburgh – Be All End All
Niels Christian Skriver from The Light Lounge, London – Absolut Pink Thriller in Vanilla
Simon Taylor from Blind Tiger, Liverpool – Absolut Tiki
Tommo Quy from Captain’s Club Hotel, Dorset – Absolut Revival
Rhys Wilson from Happiness Forgets, London – Part Time Model

Now, the public is invited to take to social media to vote for their favourite cocktail by liking its picture on Absolut’s Facebook page by 23 January. The cocktails that receive the most votes will be invited to take part in the live final on 29 January.

Adam Boita, head of marketing at Pernod Ricard UK, said: ‘Classics dominate the top 10 cocktails in the UK and we’re seeing an exciting revivalist trend. The UK is the birthplace of some of the most famous classic cocktails and many of today’s best bartenders learned and perfected their trade here. That’s why we have turned to bartenders across the nation for inspiration for the #13thClassic and the entries have surpassed all expectations. We can’t wait to see what the public think of their creations in this exciting shortlisting phase of the competition.’
