The celebration of Pisco’s most famous cocktail is returning to London for a fourth time in 2018, and there’s still time to get involved

There are only a few classics truly deserving of a full week devoted to them, but the Pisco Sour is undoubtedly among them. The timeless combination of this Peruvian spirit with lime juice, egg white, syrup and Angostura Bitters is getting the recognition it deserves in February 2018 for the fourth annual.

The hype for this year’s event, and for Peruvian pisco in the UK, is already in full force. Peruvian restaurant Ceviche held a masterclass during London Cocktail Week 2017 about the classic, while four other restaurants – Señor Ceviche, PISQU, Chotto Matte and LIMA Floral teamed up to host a Pisco is Peru bar crawl on the Saturday of that week too. The route took in all four venues, each offering a signature pisco cocktail for a special price. There are only a few classics truly deserving of a full week devoted to them, but the Pisco Sour is undoubtedly among them. Expect even more from London Pisco Sour Week 2018, which will be held on 3-9 February, when the capital will come together once again to celebrate Peru’s national drink. This year, Pisco is Peru is calling on bars to create their own take on the Pisco Sour for the week, in order to reflect London’s diverse and multicultural cocktail scene. The initiative is free to join, and you’ll be recognised as an Official Promoter of Peruvian Pisco, and be involved in all of the marketing for the event.

‘We were involved in London Pisco Sour Week last February and our bar team will be creating a new Pisco Sour for next year’s event. We’re very excited about it,’ enthused Amit Joshi, co-founder of The Jones Family Project in Shoreditch. ‘Not only does pisco brandy make the best sours in my opinion but it also reminds me of warm sunny holidays. Peru is a beautiful country with a long history and a Pisco Sour evokes its legacy in spades.’ The deadline for getting involved is 5 January 2018. Email: [email protected]
