William Grant & Sons invests in American whiskey with Tuthilltown purchase

Location: USA

William Grant & Sons has further invested in the American Whiskey category by purchasing Tuthilltown Spirits.

Hudson Whiskey glassSound familiar? Tuthilltown produces a number of ‘craft’ spirits including Hudson Whiskey, which William Grant bought seven years back.

William Grant & Sons has acquired the entire 36-acre Tuthilltown facility based in the Hudson Valley, including the distillery, restaurant, visitor centre and grounds with riverfront views.

This acquisition is a sign of intent and marks the independent Scottish distiller’s expansion into American whiskey distilling for the first time.

‘William Grant & Sons is a company that holds true family values and is home to a number of spirits brands we respect and admire,’ Tuthilltown distillery co-founder Ralph Erenzo said. ‘It is renowned for its excellence in distilling, which we share.  We’ve been working with William Grant & Sons for a number of years and look forward to building on that relationship to help Tuthilltown fully achieve its potential.’
