The six-month apprenticeship aims to help promising members of the on-trade to advance their careers through education. De Courcy, a sommelier at Gazelle in Mayfair, and Ameye, a bartender at Swift in Soho, will receive WSET level two or three training and access to masterclasses and trips to wineries. In the New Year, they’ll also begin harvest internships at Bibendum producers Journey’s End in South Africa and Argento in Argentina.
Both the new apprentices are members of Bibendum’s larger Wine Minds programme, launched in early 2018 as a platform for ‘empowering emerging industry talent’.
‘Romain and Sam have been avid Wine Minds members since the start of the programme and we are excited to work with them more closely during their apprenticeships,’ said Bibendum’s Elona Hesseling.
The Wine Minds programme accepts applications on a rolling basis – learn more about the application process here.
