Blue Nun’s iconic Sparkling Gold 24K edition is set to be relaunched this summer by Kingsland Drinks Ltd, kicking off at Imbibe Live 2018.
Bringing a fresh marketing and distribution push, the wine will be priced at around £10 and will be sold via wholesale and on-trade initially.
Kingsland says it sees opportunities for Blue Nun’s with the younger and ‘beginner’ drinker market for many occasions including get-togethers with friends, celebrations and weddings.
The German sparkling wine is light in style and has real 24 carat gold leaf pieces in the liquid, said to enhance the natural effervescence of the wine. The inclusion of the gold leaf is hoped to give the bottle an innovative stand out on shelf and a point of difference in the busy lower cost sparkling market.
‘At 11% it responds well to the younger consumer’s desire for a lighter wine that can be enjoyed at home or out with friends as an apéritif or accompaniment for light meals and hors d’oeuvres,’ said Kingsland.
Behind the brand, Blue Nun is itself one of the world’s oldest German wine brands, created in 1921 by H Sichel Söhne. In 1995, with Sichel merging with Langguth, it was brought back to market.
