Australia’s De Bortoli is preparing a renewed thrust into the on-trade after securing a number of prestigious restaurant listings for its Yarra Valley wines.
De Bortoli, which has a joint UK distribution agreement with Chile’s Undurraga, is working closely with on-trade distributor Flint Wines.
Daniel Renshaw, De Bortoli’s London representative, now has a new on-trade role and has already established listings with restaurants including Vinoteca, The Harrow at Little Bedwyn, Circus and La Trompette.
The main focus has been on the company’s Yarra Valley Estate Grown wines and top sweet wine Noble One, described as ‘probably the best New World sweet wine’ by Ronan Sayburn MS, sommelier at The Greenhouse.
‘Early feedback from sommeliers has been very positive and we are now looking to develop more extensive on-trade distribution this year,’ said John Thorne, general manager – on-trade and independent accounts at De Bortoli.
‘Noble One and the Yarra Valley Estate Grown range, and Undurraga’s TH [Terroir Hunter] range, make an interesting addition to restaurant lists and show the best of what Australia and Chile stand for.’
