Ruinart Champagne has announced the launch of Ateliers Ruinart – a new platform with education and mentoring at its heart, designed to bring together the UK’s top sommeliers.
Fronted by Ruinart’s cellarmaster, Frédéric Panaïotis, and the world’s number one sommelier, Gerard Basset, the programme aims to support the development of sommeliers identified as having the talent to succeed at the highest level.
The programme was launched on 15 October at a symposium exploring ideas for recruiting and retaining and attended by the UK’s leading sommeliers. Identified as individuals who have the experience to drive and influence industry change, these sommeliers have become the inaugural ‘Ruinart Fellows’ who will mentor the programme participants, known as ‘Artisans’.
Entries are now open for young sommeliers to join the training programme via the Ateliers Ruinart registration page. Entries will close on December 7th 2012. Successful candidates, selected by the Fellows, will be invited to attend an exclusive and bespoke training day in London in early February 2013. Not only will this scholarship allow sommeliers to enrich their talents, it will also provide access to mentoring from those in the profession who have reached the pinnacle of their careers.
