The warehouse at Bolney Wine Estate was broken into last night, with thieves making off with more than £80,000 worth of wine. In amongst the near-5,000 bottles stolen were 540 bottles of the winery’s Blanc de Blanc 2009.
‘We are understandably upset and frustrated by the loss of such a large amount of wine,’ said Samantha Linter, head winemaker and MD of the West Sussex producer.
These bottles would have ended up in supermarkets or independents. They could still see the light of day, so if you encounter any questionable bottles of Bolney, Linter is asking for help. ‘If anyone has information, could you please get in touch on 01444 881575 or phone the Police on 101,’ she says.
The bottles to look out for, in addition to that top blanc de blanc, are the winery’s Cuvée Rosé, Bolney Bubbly, Sirrius Rosé, Lychgate White and Linter’s Red.
