Expect to see a lot more wine and beer from Chapel Down. The company’s just secured £4.3m in new equity funding, and plans to spend it on new plantings in Sussex, Essex and Kent. It has seen growing demand for both its still and sparkling wines.
It’s also going to use some of the cash to build a brewery for its Curious range of beers, which will in all likelihood be in Kent.
These additions will help to address demand from growing export markets too, for both the wines and the beers.
CEO Frazer Thompson (pictured), commented: ‘Just over a decade ago our industry and business was little more than a bit of a novelty. Today we are a prestigious, internationally recognised brand with world class credentials.’
Chapel Down has announced the addition of former Scottish & Newcastle and C&C Magners chief executive, John Dunsmore, to its board.
