Gérard Basset MW OBE and his wife Nina, have announced a new partnership between their property, Hotel TerraVina and 10 in 8: The Fine Dining Group.
10 in 8 is headed by chef Alan Murchison and was set up in 2010 with the intention of creating 10 Michelin-starred restaurants in eight years. So far, two of the group’s four restaurants (L’Ortolan in Reading and Paris House in Bedfordshire) have earned their stars, and the other two (The Angel in Dartmouth and La Bécasse in Ludlow) have gained critical acclaim.
The merger will see both companies retain their individual identities, with Gérard overseeing the wine offering across the group and Michelin-starred Murchison looking after the food menus for all five venues. Nina will continue her role at TerraVina, but will also be acting as MD of 10 in 8, working alongside chairman Richard Pursey.
She said of the deal: ‘We are delighted to join forces with Alan, Richard and their team. This merger will open up many great opportunities for the talented teams that already exist in both businesses. They will play such an important role in the development of the group and we are delighted for them as well as for us. We have already worked with 10 in 8 informally on a couple of joint projects and it was clear that the mix of Gérard’s wine skills when combined with Alan’s culinary expertise created a potent mix of talent that in our opinion is unsurpassed in the world of hotel management and fine dining.’
