Mancunians better get ready – Salut Wines is landing on 18 August, courtesy of airline pilot Jon Saunby and his wife, former first-class stewardess Sara. The pair are opening the largest wine dispensing business in the city, which will combine a shop, bar and wine school into one big wine experience.
‘Salut came about when we were studying for our WSET levels 2 and 3 and couldn’t find the place we wanted to drink in,’ Sara explained. ‘Somewhere where there was a great wine selection, with a good by-the-glass selection, in a relaxed environment with excellent service.’
The wine bar will offer a selection of 42 wines, including 32 in Enomatic machines. Customers can pick between three different serving sizes, to be sipped along with tapas-style small plates courtesy of North Star Delicatessen.
The wine shop will offer an additional 300 wines to buy. And if wine really isn’t your thing (although in that case Salut Wines might not be your hangout of choice), a few beers and spirits will be available.
On top of all of that, WSET-certified Stephen Rosser will be running Wine and Spirit Education Training courses for those wanting to learn a little more about wine… or a lot! You can go back to school from 1 September, on Monday and Tuesday evenings.
