The latest Pol Roger Brut Vintage, the 2002, lands on our shores in early April. We had a sneak preview.

It’s a 60:40 Pinot Noir/Chardonnay blend, mixing fruit intensity with elegant freshness. Honey and candied grapefruit on the nose lead into layers of sweet, harmonised fruit and light breadiness on the palate, managing to be both generous and restrained.

At 8g/l the dosage is unusually low, which points to the ripeness of the vintage. This is an aristocratic Pol Roger that has all the hallmarks of being a great vintage.
