The big reveal

Drinks: Wines
Other: People

Earlier this month, at Imbibe Live, we hosted the very first Imbibe Sommelier Challenge, which saw 65 somms from all over the UK blind taste and attempt to identify four wines in 15 minutes, in a bid to win £1,000. As this was the highest-value cash prize of any UK sommelier competition tensions were high, but Carlos Simoes from Dinner by Heston Blumenthal emerged as victor.

For those entrants who are still curious as to what exactly they tasted, here are the answers…

Nyetimber Blanc de Blancs 2007, England

£32.30, Liberty Wines

Wine 2: white

Gaia Wild Ferment 2012, Assyrtiko, Santorini

£13.44, Hallgarten Druitt & Novum Wines

Wine 3: red

£11.50, Armit Wines

Wine 4: sweet

Heggie’s Vineyard Botrytis Riesling 2010, Eden Valley, Australia
